Pyrolysis Oil

Pyrolysis oil is produced by the thermal decomposition of organic materials at high temperatures in the absence of oxygen.

Biofront is involved in the direct collection of end of life tyres (ELT) along with waste plastics for the production of refined pyrolysis oils. We have structural partners that can produce refined and distilled oils from these materials. These oils can them be used then used in multiple end markets including transportation fuels and sustainable polymers

ELT and waste plastics are both significantly abundant yet under utilised waste-streams in the origins we work within. Biofront continues to valorize these waste-streams into high value products that support both the reduction of carbon based emissions and the strengthening of localised circular economies.

Tyre Pyrolysis Oil (TPO) is derived from the gasification of end-of-life tyres. This involves a process involving heating at temperatures of around 900 degrees Celsius, the gases produced are condensed back into oil and can then be distilled.

This oil is then supplied to partners for a multitude of uses including transportation fuel and sustainable materials. TPO provides a valuable use for waste tyres, reducing the strain on landfills and offers a sustainable alternative to conventional fuelss

Plastic Pyrolysis Oil (PPO) is produced from the gasification of waste plastics, where the plastics are again heated in the absence of oxygen in a reactor.

The resultant gases are then condensed into oil. This oil can then be supplied to the petrochemical industry as recyclable naphtha product, which can be further processed into various valuable chemicals and fuels.

PPO helps address the growing problem of plastic waste, providing an innovative solution for recycling plastics and contributing to the production of sustainable energy and materials.
